Control Your Appetite & #StopSnacking With Full Core Refreshments! #cBias

Jan 26

You would think with the holidays being over it would be easy to get back on track and shed the unwanted pounds that were nearly impossible to avoid. I always find myself determined and encouraged to stop snacking, eat healthier, and be active when a new year begins. While I am disciplined in my goals, I still have a few bad habits that need major improving. One of these being the urge to frequently snack throughout the day. Sometimes I just don’t want a big meal. I would rather grab a bag of chips and go about my business. Being a mom I tend to focus on my daughter’s meals more than my own. As you can imagine this unhealthy habit hasn’t been very supportive in my plan to shed a few stubborn pounds. I think it’s about time to look into something new. Feeling discouraged I was ready and willing to take the leap and try an appetite control drink known as Full Core.

Many of you may be wondering what exactly Full Core is and how it is different from similar products on the market. I, myself, was in the same boat and decided to research before placing my order online. I came across a ton of helpful information and was intrigued by the benefits it offers. Full Core is a refreshing and fizzy lemon lime beverage that curbs your appetite and also promotes a healthy digestive system. It’s the equivalent of enjoying an ice cold carbonated soda without all of the unhealthy ingredients inside. For me this is the jackpot, the mother load, the big kahuna! I have had such a difficult time kicking my soda habit and sometimes I can’t help but crave something bubbly. This was already getting me excited to try Full Core for myself. It is also blended with 15 essential vitamins, minerals, and 40% of the daily fiber you need. Not only will it make me stop snacking but it will help with my digestive health as well. Sold? I think I am!

Full Core refreshments and merchandise can be purchased at one of their retail locations and also online. Since there nearest store was a bit far from my home, I was pleased to be able order on their website. You can take a look at my digital shopping trip here. After browsing through the options I placed my order and waited patiently for it to arrive. I was very impressed with the shipping time. It took less than a week to arrive! For those of you who are also not close to a retail store, ordering online is very easy. The shipping costs are reasonable and as you can tell from my experience, you don’t have to wait very long.

Anxious to try the sparkling beverage, I popped a couple of cans into the refrigerator and waited for them them to chill. It is best served cold and is even better poured over a cup of ice. I left mine in over night and decided to start the next day with Full Core in hand. After dropping my daughter off at school and running errands I was tired, hungry, and thirsty! Using Full Core as a cure I couldn’t believe how refreshed and re-vitalized I felt. The taste is amazing. It is almost indentical to a lemon lime soda. Even better there was no after taste or jittery feeling. Within about 10 minutes I was no longer hungry and felt much more hydrated. I was surprised that I did not even have a slight urge to pick up a snack. Full Core completely satisfied me and left me feeling full. This is exactly the product I need to push me into losing the holiday pounds. Combined with a continuous work out plan and healthy eating, Full Core is going to be a vitale part in my journey.

Valentine’s Day Craft: 14 Acts Of Love & Kindness #valentinesday

Jan 24

Valentine’s Day is one of my favorite holidays, if not my TOP favorite of all time. It’s one of those “feel good” kinda holidays and also my little girl’s birthday, exciting!   It is also filled with love, kisses, hugs, candy, cards, flowers, and everything else we would love to receive on a daily basis. With all of these wonderful things in mind, it is not only a time to receive but also give. This year I will be beginning a new tradition with my daughter in hopes of creating a humble appreciation for this time of year. The “14 Acts of Love & Kindness” craft promotes doing nice things for others and spreading love to those you care about in the month of February.

Supplies needed:
  • Medium sized clear jar or vase
  • Valentine themed ribbon
  • Mini heart cut outs
  • 14 festive pencils
  • (2) bags of Brach’s Conversation Hearts
  • Elmer’s glue & a hot glue gun
  • Printed sheet of 14 Acts of Love & Kindness

Before getting started create a bow with your festive ribbon. Wrap it around the neck of the vase or jar you are using. You can make the bow as large as you would like depending on the size of your container. Once finished you can add in your conversation heart candy. These will be the base for your pencils. If you do not have enough candy they will not stay in place. Since I went with a medium sized vase, two bags were sufficient and filled it to the rim.

Using a hot glue gun you can attach your pencils to the heart cut outs. Place a generous amount of glue towards the tip of the heart and secure you pencil in place. While it is still tacky place an additional dot of glue on the metal portion and along the lining of the heart. Take another heart cut out and place it on top while attaching the edges with your finger tips. Press down lightly to ensure the hot glue does not seep out. I have seen other people use pixie sticks and straws for this craft. I went with pencils because the hearts make a fun topper and your kids can use them afterwards for school or drawing at home! Repeat these steps with all 14 pencils.

On the front of the vase I used sticky photo squares to add the banner. After you have all of your acts of love and kindness cut out into small rectangles, use Elmer’s glue to attach them to the back of the hearts.

The next part may cause a few problems if not done correctly. Instead of trying to wiggle each pencil into the candy, dump half of it out first. Put the remaining candy into a cup. Hold the pencils together in a bundle and place them into the middle of the vase. Without letting go, pour the candy hearts all around the ends of the pencils until the vase is completely filled. There may be a few gaps and holes but you will fix those afterwards. Once covered, let go of the pencils and maneuver them so the blank side of the hearts are facing forward. You will notice that while moving the pencils around, the candy falls into place and fills the spaces.

Beginning on the first day of February, give your child the opportunity to choose a pencil and read them their task. They can be anything that you feel fits your family or their age. Since Toodie is younger I went with simple acts that she would not only enjoy but also understand at her age. The whole point of this activity is to share love and kindness. This is a fun way to countdown the days until Valentine’s Day!

Julep Beauty Resolution: Playing With Complimentary Colors

Jan 22

A couple of weeks ago I uploaded a photo to my Instagram featuring my beloved nail polish collection. While someone quickly told me I have way too many bottles, I personally felt it was completely lacking something. All of the colors within my collection are either sparkly, pastel, purple, pink, or very mute. I had 3 or 4 bottles of darker shades consisting of plums and reds. This told me one thing. I really need to branch out and experiment with other colors! As a Julep VIP Blogger I was presented with a beauty resolution for the new year. This resolution encouraged me to play with two different colors that complimented each other. It was time to take a spin at the color wheel and step outside of my neutral box.

The two colors inside of my Julep box were Lucy and Diane. Both appear to be complete opposites but somehow DID seem to compliment one another when applied next to each other. Lucy is described as being a modern, dark burgundy creme. The color resembles a very deep red wine. Diane is a dark forest green creme. It is also another very rich shade that is true to it’s name.

Both of these colors are part of the “IT Girl” style profile on the Julep Maven website. Like all of their nail polishes, they are  “4-free” and do not contain formaldehyde, formaldehyde resin, toluene, or DBP. They are highly pigmented, chip free, and top notch quality. I have yet to find a Julep polish that I was unhappy with.  Normally I don’t wear dark shades like these but I actually really love how it turned out when my whole hand was painted. The finish was very glossy and shiny. I didn’t even have a top coat on in the photo! I wouldn’t have thought to pair the two together because red and green can be a bit, “Christmas cliche.” But because these are so deep, you can definitely pull it off without looking like a walking decoration! When the light hits Lucy you can see the different dimensions of red making it a unique color. The whole point of complimentary colors is that one makes the other appear brighter. The forest green really makes the red POP! It just may be my go-to polish as Winter wraps up.

If you are not a Julep Maven and would like more information on their products you can visit their site here. Also connect with them on Facebook and Twitter for updates, promotions, and fun giveaways.

Using the promo code  YOUNGATHEARTMOMMY  will also get you your first Julep Maven box for just a PENNY!

Disclosure: I received the products above in participation with the Julep VIP Blogger Program for my consideration and to share my honest opinion and experience. I am under no obligation to post a positive review on them. I will not be compensated for this review. As always, opinion are my own!

Creating Valentine’s Day Memories With Kleenex #ShareTheSoft #cBias

Jan 21

Through the years the Kleenex® brand has become a dependable part of my family. It is always there to wipe away tears, clean messy faces, and soothe runny noses. It also doesn’t ask any questions! I grew up having a box in every single room of our home, and today not much has changed. I have very fond memories of Kleenex®. Although no one enjoys being sick, this is when I would spend the most time with my trusty box of boogie wipers. Whenever I was feeling under the weather my mom would come home with soup, a tub of ice cream, and a nice big box of tissues to call my very own. I was set and for some reason I felt better plopped on the couch with my Kleenex® right next to me. Today I am passing on the admiration to my daughter, who seems to be sick a lot more often than I would like. With a stock pile in each bedroom and bathroom, there are never any unattended sniffles in this house.

As a result of Toodie going to school regularly I notice that she comes down with a bad cold at least a few times a month. In the past year we have gone through our Kleenex® supply quicker than expected. With it running low we decided to take a trip to Walmart and replenish. When we arrived there was an organized display with different sizes and types of packages to choose from. I picked up a few boxes of the popular Ultra Soft and a convenient To-Go Pack to keep in the car. Now it was time to get home and get crafting. Since Valentine’s Day is a few weeks away I thought it would be fun to make a homemade treat box to hold cards and goodies.

Here is a list of the supplies you will need:

  • Empty box of  Kleenex® tissues
  • Valentine’s Day themed wrapping paper
  • Large googly eyes
  • Foam shaped heart cut outs
  • Rectangle foam sheets
  • Elmer’s glue
  • Red sparkle felt
  • Glue gun
  • Shape stencil

To begin take your rectangle box of Kleenex® tissues, preferably Ultra Soft. Remove the tissues and put them in a safe place. After all, you don’t want to let them go to waste! I placed ours in the bathroom where they are used on a daily basis. Once the box is empty, re-seal the pull away tag by taping it back into place. Using scissors you will cut a generous sized slit on the upper end of the box. Make sure the hole is wide enough to fit Valentine cards and treats. If it is too small you may have a hard time getting them back out. Wrap the box in your festive paper and leave the open end for last. This part may seem tricky. Trim the excess paper around the edges of the opening and tuck any remaining pieces into the box. Use tape to secure the paper inside.

In the center of the owl glue a medium sized foam heart. For the eyes I traced two circles on white card stock. To add depth and texture I used the glittery felt to make a smaller circle for the center. Once these are glued together place the googly eye on top. Now your little friend should be coming to life. The remaining parts of the owl were made from a single sheet of light pink foam. I used the smaller heart pieces to trace the feet and free handed the wings, nose, and ears. If you are working on this craft with a child I suggest stepping in to attatch the parts. Using a glue gun will keep them secure and sturdy. Since they are thicker than paper the Elmer’s glue may not hold the weight.

Your Owl Valentine Box can be used to hold cards, candy, or loves notes. You can even place the original tissues back into the top of the box and use it as a tissue holder for the month of February. Until Valentine’s Day gets closer we are using ours as a decoration! Empty Kleenex® tissue boxes are great for crafting and creating.

Attached to the 4 pack bundle of Ultra Soft Kleenex® was a peel away coupon which would allow us to redeem a FREE streaming movie on Vudu.com. Once the coupon was removed, a unique 16 digit code was revealed. By visiting www.walmart.com/kleenex I was able to create a Vudu account and browse through the movie selection. Compared to other video streaming websites, there were many choices and new releases to choose from. It was very easy to navigate through and there were movies that everyone in the family could enjoy. In addition to the $4 credit, I also received 10 free movie rentals by signing up for the first time. The complimentary Vudu codes can be found on specially marked Ultra Soft and Lotion 4 packs.

After looking through the many categories and genres, Toodie was stuck between Coraline and Frankenweenie. I can tell that I passed on my love of Tim Burton movies to her! She ended up going with Coraline and I proceeded to the rent the movie within seconds. As a 24 hour rental, you can continuously go back and check your Vudu account to see the remaining time left. If you have a child that is anything like mine, they may want to watch the movie two or three times! Having this reminder available is very helpful. Vudu is really starting to grow on me.

As if it wasn’t already convenient enough, Vudu movies can be streamed directly to many different devices. These include your HDTV, Blu-ray, PS3, Xbox 360, Roku, PC, and even select tablets. I love watching movies on my IPad. It makes things so much easier! After creating out Valentine’s Day #ShareTheSoft craft, there was no better way to relax than to watch a fun movie together. With all of her stuffed puppies tucked in and a full bed of comfy pillows, we snuggled up and enjoyed Coraline together. It’s the moments like this that make me appreciate being a mom and thankful that Kleenex® helps to make them possible everyday! This Valentine’s Day be sure to #ShareTheSoft and the love with your family too.

To get a closer look at my Walmart shopping trip and Vudu.com experience, stop by my Google+ album.

Marshmallow Ice Cream Cone Cookies

Jan 14

It’s a new year! With 2012 gone, I have decided that this year I will make more time to do things that I truly love and enjoy. One of the many interests I have is baking with my little girl. I found this recipe in one of my favorite baking books, “Fun Stuff- 3 Books in 1: Cupcakes, Cookies, Silly Snacks.” This book has pages of sweet and savory recipes for children and adults. From Sloppy Joe Sliders to Rocky Road Cupcakes, each page contains easy to follow directions for every creation. The photos are big and colorful so you have a guideline to what you are making and what it should come out looking like! I’ve had this book for a few months now but haven’t had much time to appreciate it. This weekend I made “Marshmallow Ice Cream Cone Cookies” with Toodie in preparation for her birthday next month. My munchkin is going to be 4! I still can’t believe it. The pressure is on to deliver a dessert table of special treats on her big day. Of course, I attached the recipe and a few pictures below in case you want to satisfy a sweet tooth this week.

Our Day At The Young At Art Museum In South Florida #YoungAtArt

Jan 07

After many months of hectic holiday preparations, I was ecstatic when presented with the opportunity to take a break and spend the day at our local children’s art museum. Here in South Florida there are many attractions, museums, and zoos to keep families busy all year round. While it seems that there is always something new to experience, at times it can be hard finding activities that are geared toward younger children. When I was first told about the Young At Art Museum it was undergoing renovations and an expansion to prepare for its grand re-opening. Now that it is opened and fully functioning, a learning experience for all ages is provided. From birth all the way to adulthood, the museum is designed to transform the way our children appreciate art. The Young At Art Museum is a very unique hands-on children’s museum where kids learn within the wonderful world of ART! Sparking imagination through art provides endless possibilities and opens a creative outlet in each and every child. Here they have the ability to learn by creating, touching, imagining, and exploring.

When entering the museum there was no clear path to where we should begin or where we should end up after exploring. The choice was ours and with so much to do, it was just a matter of what we wanted to try first! It was immediately stimulating and the exhibits were visually stunning. You could tell that A LOT of hard work and thought went into the layout. Since our visit was around Christmas, they had a Gingerbread House Workshop for $10 per child. I was happy to see seasonal crafts being offered to get into the holiday spirit. While our creation was drying we headed to the different “scapes” throughout the museum.

The museum is divided into four main sections- the Wonderscapes, Artscapes, Culturescapes, and Greenscapes. Each area offers activities and exhibits true to the theme. For example, the Greenscapes will encourage your child to connect with nature and the environment. Toodie got to play with blocks made from recycled material and make her own puppet. Right around the corner, the Wonderscapes offer a journey of words, music, fantasy play, and literacy. There was also a comfy cozy area to read books. This is where we spent most of our visit and I noticed many of the kids were gravitating towards the fun inside. As a toddler, Toodie usually gets distracted and bored very easily. This is one of the very few places I have found that has kept her attention the whole visit! We never ran out of things to do here ad when it was time to leave, it was a struggle. I had to promise another visit back VERY soon.

In conjunction with the museum, the Broward County Library is open within the same hours. This includes free public library services, materials, internet access, and tutoring rooms. You can stop in during your visit to read a book with your child or wind down after a long day of play. Don’t forget your library card! As you can see this is not a traditional museum. This means there are more than the exhibits to enjoy. The Young At Art Museum offers workshops, camp programs, a museum pre-school, and even a place to host a birthday party full of creativity. The art stations, interactive experiences, and educational activities are sure to stimulate your child’s mind. There is enough to do that you could practically spend the whole entire day enjoying everything within the museum. You can even grab a bite to eat at their cafe during or after your visit. A gift shop is also on the premises if you want to bring home any keepsakes! They really do have everything… I can see why they have received so many rewards and are highly recognized within the community. We have visited a few museums within the last few years and none of them have compared to how well their concepts are executed.

If you are interested in visiting the Young At Art Museum and would like more information, stop by their website here. You can also connect by liking them on Facebook where you will be the first to know about events, activities, and promotions the museum is offering. If you are already a member or have visited with your family, please share any thoughts on your experience!

Disclosure: My family and I were granted complimentary admission into the museum as part of a blogger event. I will not be compensated for this review or blog post. All opinions are my own!

Cascadian Farm Organic Review

Jan 01

Since becoming a mom three years ago, my lifestyle and diet has noticably changed. Living in Colorado I was introduced to natural food stores, farmer’s markets, and a healthy way of eating.  I have noticed that eating organic is not only a trend but now a lifestyle for many Americans. I, myself have been trying to wiggle in more natural products into my family’s diet. Eating organic is not only healthier but it allows you to enjoy the true flavors of each ingredient. One of the most popular brands I have purchased is Cascadian Farm. All of the products that Cascadian Farm offers are grown without the use of synthetic pesticides, chemical fertilizers or genetically engineered ingredients. This means there are no artificial flavors, preservatives, or extra junk to alter the appearance. Cascadian Farm currently has 75 delicious, high-quality organic products on the market. These include granola, cereal, granola bars, frozen fruit, vegetables, and much more.

Cascadian Farm was kind enough to send me two of their upcoming products, Berry Cobble Granola and the Crunchy Granola Bars in Oats & Honey. The first thing I was eager to try was the Berry Cobbler Granola. Does the title alone not sound absolutely yummy? I love granola and am always taste testing new brands to find what I like to call, my “Holy Grail Granola!” Cascadian Farm is actually  known as being America’s Favorite Granola Cereal Brand. Granola can be eaten so many ways and I don’t think many people realize how versatile it can be. You can eat it on yogurt, in milk, baked into treats, or even tossed in a trail mix.

The Berry Cobbler flavor is made with organic whole grain oats, crisp rice, dried cranberries, and blueberries. Short and simple, huh? The medley of these ingredients baked into the granola makes it crunchy and flavorful. It doesn’t get soggy quickly and when you open the bag there are big crunchy chunks instead of a ton of small flakes. When you bite into one of the dried fruit pieces, they are chewy and add a nice contrast of texture. I don’t think it’s going to get any better than this but I am anxious to try the Crunchy Granola Bars too.

The Cascadian Farm Crunchy Granola Bars are available in two flavors at the moment. These include Almond Butter and Harvest Spice. In 2013 we will see the release of three new flavors, Oats & Honey being one of them. The other two are Peanut Butter and Oats & Cocoa- YUM! When I received my package I was thrilled to see the Oats & Honey inside because I regularly eat snack bars with both main ingredients. Each box contains 10 individual packages with two crunchy bars inside. While they are delicious eaten just as they are, I like to sometimes break mine up and toss them into vanilla yogurt as a snack! The Oats & Honey flavor has the perfect amount of sweetness, crunch, and hint of vanilla. Compared to other leading brands, you can really taste all of the natural flavors blended together.

By taste alone it would be hard to tell that they are only made with seven wholesome ingredients. I’ll admit, I am not used to buying products with such a short list of ingredients on the back. It was refreshing to see that I recognized everything inside- rolled oats, sugar, sunflower oil, honey, sea salt, molasses, and vanilla extract. With 23 grams of whole grain per serving, these are an excellent healthy snack for adults and children. It is estimated that 48 grams of whole grain are recommended each day. By eating one package of crunchy bars that takes care of almost half! They are great for packing in lunches or serving as an after school snack. I really haven’t been able to stop eating them myself…

With basic natural ingrediants, Cascadian Farm is keeping it simple while also delivering a ton of flavor in each of their products.  To learn more about Cascadian Farm and their organic products, visit the website here. You can also interact with the brand by liking them on Facebook. Keep an eye out in 2013 for more delicious releases!

Purex Baby Liquid Detergent Review and Giveaway #PurexBaby

Dec 22

When Toodie was a baby it felt like every other day I was doing a new load of laundry. From messy throw up moments to leaky diapers, there was always a hamper full of dirty linens that needed a thorough cleaning. At the time, Toodie had a very mild case of eczema and very sensitive skin to go along with it. I had to be careful what kind of laundry detergent I used to wash her bedding and clothing. This meant purchasing a mild soap that would not irritate her skin. Even though I used a leading brand sold in most stores, I always found that it never did a very good job of getting the stains out completely. I also thought it was my only option. But today, there is a better alternative on the market.

Purex Baby laundry detergent is dermatologist tested and guarantees the removal of stubborn stains without hurting your delicate clothing. It also specially formulated to be gentle on your little one’s sensitive skin. Like all Purex detergents, it is suitable for all washing machines from high efficiency to your traditional top loaders. Something that stood out to me about this detergent is that it will not affect any flame resistant clothing that you may have for your child. It is made to keep them smelling fresh, clean, and comfortable on your child’s skin. I have been using Purex Baby for a week now and am pleased with the results. Using it mostly for my toddler’s clothing, each time I remove them from the dryer a cloud of freshness greets me. The scent alone is incredible and I have even begun washing my own sheets with this! Stains that I thought would never come out, disappeared within one wash. Every parent could benefit from using Purex Baby whether you have a child with sensitive skin, allergies, or are just looking for a wonderful smelling detergent for the family.

Purex has just launched their Oh Baby! Sweepstakes where three lucky winners will receive the grand prize of $500!  An additional 250 winners will also win a bottle of Free Purex Baby detergent.  This contest will end January 23, 2013 and is open to entrants 18 years of age and over.
As a Purex Insider, I was provided with three FREE products coupons for my loyal readers. If you would like the chance to win a bottle of Purex Baby detergent you can enter through the rafflecopter form below. Three will win!
