It’s back to school time and in the midst of the chaos we can easily get caught up in the repetitive preparation of packing the same old snacks and lunches. I don’t know about your children but mine has made it clear that she isn’t bursting at the seams in excitement when she finds a turkey sandwich in her lunchbox. Love With Food Monthly Subscription Box: “August” Backyard BBQ #LoveWithFood

My mailbox was full today, I mean stuffed. There wasn’t anything overly exciting, a lot of junky magazines and random statements. But tucked in the very back was a red package with my name on it. It was… dun dun dun dun.. my LOVE WITH FOOD box! I wasn’t expecting its arrival but it sure did make my Saturday. I’ve tried my fair share of monthly subscription boxes, and I admit I do have a short list of favorites. This being one of them! With that being said, I had to show my “love” for my Love With Food Box. It’s just THAT awesome. Take a look for yourself.

For the month of August the theme is titled “Backyard BBQ” and it couldn’t have come at a better time. It’s still Summer time here in South Florida and hotter than ever. I think it’s accurate to say it’s pretty much Summer all year around. We never get cold weather! This box and it’s contents made me love this time of year, regardless of the never ending heat. 

Here is a run down of each and every yummy treat that I found inside my Love With Food box:

All Natural Spice Rub: From Dizzy Pig BBQ Co., this flavorful rub pairs well with ribs, burgers, and chicken.

Sea Salt Potato Chips: From Good Boy Organics, these backed organic potato snacks are crunchy and GMO free.

All Natural Salsa: From El Pinto, this salsa is made in New Mexico, containing a touch of heat from chiles and jalapenos.

Original Creamy Praline: From Aunt Sally’s, New Orleans favorite praline is studded with Louisiana pecans smothered in fudge coating. 

Amsterdam Waffle Cookie: From Rip van Wafers, two thin waffle cookies are filled with a rich caramel sauce. 

Snapea Crisps: From Harvest Snaps, these simply baked snacks have a smooth and mild flavor of fresh peas. 

Sugar-Free Fresh Mints: From Project 7, these mints are very special. For each tube enjoyed, they will plant a fruit tree. Pretty cool and an added perk!

Crunches: From Sahale Snacks, this mixture contains dried cranberries, roasted almond slices, and sesame seeds that are lightly glazed with orange blossom honey.


My goodness that was one long list!

There are so many delicious snacks in this month’s box. I wasn’t surprised because the very first box I received, in July, blew me away! When I pulled it out of my mailbox it was so full that it looked as though it may burst right open. The box may appear tiny in size but they always seem to do a good job of packing it full. Even Toodie was excited when she saw this pretty red package, begging me to open it and reveal what was inside. With big eyes she skimmed over the snacks, waiting for me to begin the taste testing! I love that we get to experience different treats and goodies together. I have even found nutritious snacks that she enjoys, replacing the unhealthy ones in our pantry. That’s a WIN for both of us!

Gamer Grub Review: Every Gamer’s IDEAL Snack!

Let me introduce you to my new obsession, love, and go to snack – GAMER GRUB! A couple of months ago I was browsing around on Sneakpeeq and this quirky company with a genius concept caught my eye. You’re probably wondering what this intriguing product actually is. Gamer Grub is a delicious performance snack that is packed with essential vitamins and neurotransmitters to keep you focused during game play. It’s a must have for the video game lover in your life- husband, boyfriend, best friend, dad, or even yourself! The mastermind behind Gamer Grub,Keith Mullin, created the idea in his garage and began making his concoctions in his moms kitchen! He hit the nail on the head and the rest is history in the making. The package is handheld and resealable keeping your fingers from getting greasy and your keyboard crumb free. Needless to say, the assortment pack I ordered lasted less than a week in my house. This stuff was just too good to put down.


 

Unless you knew me very well before I became a mommy, there is one thing most people would NEVER guess about me. I used to be a die hard World Of Warcraft fan and player! Call me a nerdy gamer chick but I am proud to say I was pretty darn good at that game and miss it dearly. I can only wish that I knew about Gamer Grub back in the day when I was using the keyboard air duster to get rid of unwanted crumbs after hours of quests and raiding. BBQ:  A sweet & tangy blend of Smoked Almonds, BBQ Corn Nuts, Spicy Peanuts, Toffee Peanuts and Honey & BBQ Sesame Sticks
Pizza: A zesty blend of Cheese Curls, Tomato Almonds, Sesame Sticks, Pita Chips, Fried Onions and Pizza Cashews
S’mores: A sweet and rich blend of Smores Bites, Marshmallow Chips, Graham Bites, and Chocolate Gems
Toodie’s favorite flavor is PB&J but I think since the S’mores pack arrived, there’s a little competition. As soon as I opened the samples that Gamer Grub generously sent me, she recognized what they were immediately. Within seconds, the S’mores package was GONE, Toodie’s door was closed, and she was in bed watching a movie while munching on her grub. I’m not the only one around here addicted!

Refreshing Spring Time Treats On A Stick

Fruit Punch Pops
  • 1 cup of seedless green grapes
  • 1 cup strawberries finely chopped
  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 1/2 cups of Fruit Punch
  • Popsicle Sticks

Directions:  Combine the fruit in a large mixing bowl. Spoon the mixture into 8 popsicle molds. Fill each mold with enough punch to reach the fill line. Add the popsicle stick and place in the freezer. Freeze for at least 4 hours up to overnight, or until the popsicles are frozen solid. Allow the molds to sit at room temperature for 5 minutes or place under warm running water for 10-20 seconds to remove popsicles.

Crunchy Funky Monkey Snacks!

Recently I came across the wonderful world of Funky Monkey snacks! Need a little crunch in your life? If you are fruit lover like my own little munchkin than these may be something you want to check out.Toodie loves these crunchy fruity snacks and has been a very happy girl when she finds them in her lunchbox. If you are looking for a new way to get your daily fruit serving or just a fan of dried fruit snacks then I would highly recommend these. The thing that I like most about these snacks is you can tell they are using full size pieces of fruit. As you can see in the photo below the banana chips are actually a slice of banana. There are no tiny processed pieces, only whole fruit chunks. Sometimes I find myself running out of ideas and am less than thrilled with the snack choices at the grocery store. These are an ideal alternative to the sugary, processed, unhealthy selections that you normally find.
Besides tasting great Funky Monkey Snacks are also gluten-free, wheat-free, dairy-free, peanut and tree nut free, and contain no added sugars, colors, flavors or preservatives. There are three servings of fruit in each ounce so if you have a picky eater these are an easy way to sneak a little in their diet!
Funky Monkey snacks come in seven yummy flavors-
  • Applemon : Freeze dried apple and organic cinnamon
  • Bananamon : Freeze dried organic banana and organic cinnamon

There are only six flavors pictured because the first flavor we tried was the Pink Pineapple and it was gone within minutes! We couldn’t help it, they were that yummy.
