This week I celebrated the end of a grueling semester and the beginning of my three week break before another begins. “Keep It Stupid Simple,” has been an unwritten rule in the kitchen lately. This week I realized that while I may really enjoy baking, some of my creations do not turn out as I intend them too. In fact, a majority of them may not even be edible at the end of the process! I had a few mishaps during my pre-Thanksgiving dessert preparation. After one or two failed attempts I decided to make a fool proof cookie bar using two of my favorite ingredients, chocolate and toffee. Christmas has always been one of my favorite holidays but it is also the most time consuming and stressful. There is the decorating, cooking, baking, Elf On The Shelf hiding, wrapping, and preparing for Santa’s arrival. Somewhere in between all that is a few hours of sleep and maybe a cup of coffee. I experience pure madness at times and I think I kind of secretly enjoy the thrill.
