Earlier in the year I saw the original Maze Runner movie for the first time. It was actually by accident because I was sitting on my couch doing work and it happened to be on in the background.  The main character Thomas, played by Dylan O’Brien, caught my eye because I recognized him from the hilarious movie The Internship with Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn. It was strange seeing him in such a different role, being the hero instead of the uptight teenager engrossed in his cell phone. I only caught the middle, closer to the end, but that’s all I needed to be completely hooked. Over the course of the next week I watched it a total of five times, FIVE! It has since become one of my favorite movies so you can imagine how excited I was when the second installment was announced. I love movies that have a continuous story line and contain twists that keep you engaged.

Each year I try to make the holidays even more memorable and magical than the last. Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love spending time with family, decorating the tree, wrapping gifts, baking goodies, and admiring the lights strung throughout the neighborhood. But the best part of the holidays? Creating new traditions to share with my daughter. From exchanging mother/daughter ornaments to building a candy encrusted gingerbread house together, I am a firm believer that you can never have to many traditions to build upon. That’s why we need one more festive addition to our holiday routine! We’re making our own Advent calendar with glittery ornament pouches because it’s one creative method to count down the days until Santa’s arrival. I don’t know why it took me so long to craft my own but I absolutely adore the concept of getting a special surprise each day in the month of December. Oh Tuesday, I am so very happy to see you. Today is officially my Friday and the start to a mini vacation at home with family. With Thanksgiving only a couple of days away, everyone is off of work and school is closed until next Monday! You know what that means right? Time to get my relax on. I am turning mommy mode off for at least an hour or two a day because I am in major need of some “me” time after a LONG grueling semester. The struggle of being an adult student is real! Finding time to indulge in a little television is hard to come by when your mind is filled with mundane equations and business law terminology. Not only do I get to catch up on some much needed sleep this week but I can finally binge watch my favorite shows from the comfort of my couch or bedroom. Pimiento Cheese Green Beans

Last week I started thinking about the annual Thanksgiving feast we have at my mom’s house each year. It’s typically a full blown foodie fest that ends with you either unbuttoning your pants for extra room or a long nap wherever a comfy spot is available.  From the traditional family dishes made from scratch to the seasonal pumpkin cheesecake, I end up in a blissful food coma almost immediately after cleaning my plate.  Plopping on the couch post-meal to watch the annual parade in a cozy pair of pajamas just comes with the Turkey Day territory.
