It may be the beginning of September but the fall season has already made its way into our home. This time of year can never arrive sooner and once the iconic pumpkin spiced latte is released, that’s a green light to get the decorations out. Fall is the feel-good season because it opens the door for festive activities, hay rides, colorful leaves, homemade baked goodies that leave the house smelling delicious, crisp cool air, and the excuse to eat all things made with pumpkin! While these are all reasons to get excited, there is one big change this time of year that I can always do without- dry skin. One would think that living in Florida would solve this dilemma since it’s hot and sticky the majority of the time. The truth is, dry skin creeps up on your regardless of the weather conditions. You can keep your skin soft and hydrated by exfoliating and moisturizing daily.
This recipe for homemade Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin Body Scrub in infused with warm vanilla sugar, cinnamon, pumpkin spice, and coconut oil. It helps me banish my dry skin while leaving it smelling incredible.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 1 cup granulated white sugar
- 1 cup coconut oil
- 2 tbsp. pumpkin pie spice
- 1 tbsp. warm vanilla sugar essential oil
- 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
Directions:
1. In a medium sized bowl combine all dry ingredients.
2. If coconut oil is hard then heat it in the microwave for 10-15 seconds until soft but not liquefied. If the oil is too hot it will melt the sugar.
3. Add the coconut and essential oil to the dry mixture, stirring it until all ingredients are combined well.
4. Store in a sealed glass or plastic jar to ensure freshness. If scrub begins to dry out over time, add more oil inside of the container and stir together.
This sugar scrub can be used on a daily basis to buff the dry dull skin we tend to neglect. Two or three spoonfuls of the mixture will be enough to cover the whole body.
