When Toodie & I made the big move from Colorado back to Florida I was sad to leave our friends and their children behind. In the past five years we must have sent a ton of birthday cards, thinking of you cards, good luck cards, and kid’s cards to keep us connected. I was pretty worried after the move because the majority of my circle here in FL are single, just getting married, or childless! Luckily her father has quite a few friends who have kids the same age as her. One of them, who is more like his brother, has an adorable little boy named Matthew. It was friendship at first site and they quickly clicked after their initial play date.
Toodie & Matthew are only a few months apart and naturally they have become the best of friends. Every other weekend when Toodie visits her daddy’s house Matthew makes a special appearance for fun filled days of swimming, playing, and adventures. Don’t let the innocent faces and sweet smiles fool you though! These two are always in cahoots when it comes to creating mischief. Every child needs a partner in crime to grow up with. After all, 28 years later and I am still attached at the hip with my childhood bestie!
With Matthew’s 5th birthday only a few weeks away I headed to Walmart to browse their kid friendly cards. If anything says thoughtful we all know it’s a hand selected Hallmark card! Amongst the classic greeting cards I found a section devoted to the kiddos. I stumbled upon awesome poster cards for kids with Matthew’s favorite super heroes on them. It was a tough choice between Batman and the Avengers but if there is anything better than one superhero it’s a whole group of them!
Both poster cards had a full sized themed poster inside. Once Matthew opens his card and reads his special birthday message, he can unfold it to reveal a super cool poster for his bedroom. The Avenger’s poster was also glow in the dark. SOLD! Even at my age I am a sucker for anything that glows. As a child I remember covering my ceiling in those tiny plastic glow in the dark stars. Receiving a card for any occasion makes a child feel special but when it has extras inside it’s even more exciting. I can’t wait to see Matthew’s big smile when he opens this up!
You can find kid’s poster cards at your local Walmart in the Hallmark section. Before shopping make sure to sign up for the Hallmark Rewards Program which earns you rewards for every Hallmark card you purchase at Walmart. For every 5 cards you buy, you will earn a reward of your choice. It’s easy to sign up and 100% free!
