Since I was a little girl there is one game that has always been played until the box fell apart and the pieces were lost! Monopoly has to be a staple in every household. It's a game that never get's old. It was so much fun buying properties, building hotels, and collecting money from my opponents. I remember doing whatever I could to make sure I got my hands on Park Place & the Boardwalk. Everyone wanted those properties! Another fond memory I have is the eight silver tokens that each player would choose from. Like many, I always chose the Scottie dog. Sadly, Monopoly has announced that they will be retiring one of the 8 iconic tokens found in their classic board game. Can you remember what they are? The battleship, iron, race car, shoe, thimble, top hat, Scottie dog, and wheelbarrow are all on the chopping block! It's up to us to save our favorite piece before it is replaced. Head over to www.facebook.com/Monopoly and cast your vote now.
There are five new pieces that are in the running to become a part of the Monopoly family. These tokens are the robot, ring, cat, helicopter, and guitar. Based on the people's choice and our votes, one of them will win. I've been leaning towards the robot but diamonds are a girl's best friend, the ring has my vote too!
As of today the leader board is showing some signs of hope for many of our favorite game pieces. The iron and the wheelbarrow are in bad shape though. They need a little love! The car and Scottie dog seem to be fan favorites. It will be interesting to see which ones make it and which will be replaced.
Everyday until February 5th you can visit the Monopoly Facebook page and vote for your FAVORITE token and also a new one. As a child I always used the "Scottie Dog" so I knew I had to stay true to the little guy. I really can't imagine Monopoly without him! After reading his case file he is guilty of refusing to sit but in his own defense, goes right back into the box obediently. That's not so bad, is it? FREE Scottie! He has been around since 1952, long before I was even a twinkle in the sky. Since I also had the option to vote for a new piece, I chose the robot. I thought he was pretty darn cute and would be a fun piece for kids to play with. Which two will you choose?
As we sit on pins and needles to see the final results, one of my lucky readers will be able to win the classic Monopoly board game with all eight iconic tokens. This may be your last chance to get your hands on it!
