Savory Saturday: Baked Brown Sugar Chicken Wings + Red Pepper Sauce!

Tonight was “Savory Saturday” at my house thanks to the black hole of amazing-ness known as PINTEREST! Earlier today I came across a mouth watering recipe from a talented blogger named Jackie at Domestic Fits. Check her out because she has endless recipes from appetizers to desserts. She has inspired me to be creative in the kitchen and think outside of my recipe box! I followed her recipe for Baked Brown Sugar Chicken Wings with Red Pepper Dipping Sauce and hoped that mine would turn out just as delicious as hers looked! This recipe will satisfy your sweet and savory cravings. While the outside is sweet and crunchy, you will experience a spicy tang with each bite. These were so delicious! The best part was the crispy brown sugar coating on the outside. Looking for something new to serve on Football Sundays? THIS IS IT!

  •  1-2 lbs chicken wings
  • 2 tsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp smoked paprika
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbs olive oil


Preheat your oven to 425ยฐF. Line a baking sheet with either parchment paper or tin foil. I suggest using parchment paper because the brown sugar can get sticky. After your chicken wings are washed, throw them into a bowl. Drizzle olive oil over the wings and add the spices. I tossed the wings for a few minutes making sure they were all coated. Then I stuck the chicken wings in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes to marinate. In a small bowl I mixed another batch of the seasonings to use as a dry rub. Placing the wings individually on the baking sheet, I sprinkled the dry mixture on each while patting it down. You want to make sure it sticks on there! Once they are coated, toss them in the oven for 25-30 minutes. About half way through, use tongs to flip them over so each side cooks evenly. If you are looking for a crispier coating, set your oven to broil on 375ยฐF and cook until desired.

  • 1/3 cup chopped roasted red pepper
  • 2 oz goat cheese
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbs sour cream

Combine all of the ingredients together in a food processor. Blend everything together to get a creamy consistency. If you like having the chunks of red pepper for added texture, you can chop a few pieces up finely and fold them into the dip. It is similar to a spicy blue cheese and has a slightly tart flavor. We used the leftover dip for chips and vegetables!
