Wordless Wednesday: Pretty Nails

Apr 25

Victoria was feeling much better last night and asked me to paint her nails.  Her nails are so tiny! It only takes me a few minutes to get them done. At first she chose pink but since that didn’t come out very pretty she kindly requested her favorite color… “RED!” I never knew she had a favorite color until this week. She must have told me a dozen times that her favorite color was red. I really didn’t mind what color she chose, I was just happy she was finally feeling better and back to being my happy girl.

Be the “Beauty” Queen Of The Hive

Apr 24

Most of us use honey to sweeten our tea or cure our colds. What you don’t realize is that honey can also be used in our beauty routines. Long before we had Neutrogena, Aveeno, or the Clarisonic … there was honey! Cleopatra was even known to bathe regularly in milk and honey. Honey is known to have several antioxidant properties and also protects your skin from the powerful sun. You don’t need to go out and spend a fortune on beauty treatments. You can easily make most of them right at home with common ingredients in your pantry. No need to worry about chemicals because everything you need is all natural. One of the main ingredients is HONEY!

  • Make A Honey Lip Scrub: Combine honey, olive oil, and sugar together to make a homemade lip scrub. This will keep your lips soft by removing the dead skin cells off. The sugar gently exfoliates while the honey nourishes. The olive oil will keep your lips moisturized and smooth. No one likes dry lips so why not use all natural products to cure them? All you need is 2 Teaspoons of sugar, 1 Teaspoon of honey, and 1 Teaspoon of Olive Oil to create your own lip scrub.

  •  Soften Your Hair With Sweetness: Water, Olive Oil, and Honey are the perfect components to make a moisturizing conditioner for dry hair. It leaves your locks soft and silky. Apply to hair and let sit for 10-20 minutes. Then rinse out with warm water twice and comb hair out gently. Honey attracts and also seal in moisture to cure dry split ends.

  • Honey Face Mask: By whisking a tablespoon of honey, 1 egg white, 1 teaspoon of glycerin and about 1/4 cup of flour you will your own firming face mask.Once your mixture is ready you apply it all over the face and allow to penetrate for 15 minutes. When you rinse it off your skin will feel smooth. Honey is an important anti-aging ingredient in many products today.  It’s rich in vitamins, minerals, and amino acids. It is also used to treat acne and unclog pores.

  •  Honey Almond Scrub:  All you will need is 2 tablespoons of almonds, 2 teaspoons of milk, 1/2 teaspoon of flour and also honey. Grind almonds up in a blender until they are fine. Add other ingredients until a thick paste is formed. You can use this once a week to keep skin soft and exfoliate. This is non abrasive and will not irritate the skin will refining it.

  • Honey Spot Treatment: Mix 3 tablespoons of honey  and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon in a small dish. Since honey is full of antibacterial components and cinnamon stops the growth of bacteria they make the perfect pair in fighting acne. After the two are mixed together you can apply to the affected area and allow to sit for 15 minutes. You can repeat this a few times a week until the blemishes fade away.

100 Day Picture Challenge
Day 7:
A picture that makes you laugh
This picture ALWAYS makes me laugh when I see it. It was the night that my friends and I went to dinner to celebrate my 25th birthday. Afterwards we were trying to take pictures outside but could not keep a straight face. I blame it all on the guys. I went to upload the pictures a few days later and found this. While my two friends and I are trying to take a nice picture (laughing of course) my friend Nick is in the background being a creeper!

100 Day Picture Challenge
Day 6:
A picture of  a person you’d love to trade places with for a day

If I had to choose someone to trade places with for a day I would pick Tabatha from Tabatha’s Salon Takeover. She’s independent, confident, and great at what she does. I would enjoy stepping in her shoes for a day to experience what it’s like to be a successful stylist. I also think it would be fun to visit all of the dysfunctional salons and whip them into shape!

Sicky Poo Sunday

Apr 22

Today is “Sicky Poo Sunday” in our house. Toodie woke up last night throwing up everywhere. I knew that getting sick was inevitable with her starting school and being exposed to so many germs. I just didn’t think it would creep up on me out of nowhere. After a hot bath and a little TLC we cuddled until she fell back asleep. It was a rough night and she woke up every hour tossing around. I don’t think either of us got very much sleep. This morning wasn’t any exception. With a stuffy nose, runny eyes, and a bad cough she has been moping around all day. Even though she isn’t feeling well she sure didn’t pass up on a little ice cream. Doesn’t ice cream seems to make everything better?

A picture of  your favorite memory

One of my favorite memories was the day I brought my Toodie girl home from the hospital. I couldn’t wait to hold her and wake up everyday with her there. This was a moment I will never forget. I was excited to begin my journey as a mommy.

Going Green With Green Works

Apr 22

Happy Earth Day everyone! Today is the day to start taking baby steps to help the environment around us and most importantly our home- Earth. Have you been thinking about going green but are not sure where to start? Beginning in your home is a great step  to taking the plunge towards a “greener” lifestyle. All of the products in the Green Works like are made from natural ingredients and do not contain any harsh chemicals. They are made from natural derivatives and never tested on animals. When you are using their products you don’t have to worry about your family or your household pets being affected while cleaning. The Green Works line is made from plant and mineral based cleaning ingredients. It also doesn’t hurt that they smell great.  Their products have excellent cleaning power without the awful chemical fumes. Another plus is that their packaging is environmentally sustainable.

In my attempt to leave my own green footprint I picked up a few Green Works products myself this weekend. You have to start somewhere. My favorite of all four so far would be the cleaning wipes. They are perfect for wiping down counters and those sticky messes. With no residue left behind they are the perfect wipe for a quick clean up. If you are thinking about trying Green Works products yourself then head to Target. They have a good deal right now on the whole Green Works line. If you purchase any three Green Works products then you get their dish washing liquid FREE! Green works makes all of the products listed below so chances are they have what you are looking for.

  • All Purpose Cleaner
  • Cleaning Wipes
  • Glass & Surface Cleaner
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Bathroom Cleaner
  • Toilet Bowl Cleaner
  • Dishwashing Liquid
  • Laundry Detergent
  • Chlorine Free Bleach
  • Oxi Stain Remover
